Nominations for the SAC NAIDOC 2025 Awards are open!

The SAC NAIDOC Awards Ceremony recognises the outstanding contributions that Indigenous Australians make to improve the lives of Indigenous people in their communities and beyond, also to promote Indigenous issues in the wider community. 

The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors. 

The following categories are:

Eligibility criteria

1. Nominees for the individual Southern Aboriginal Corporation NAIDOC Awards 2025 must:
 

  • Be of and identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

  • Be accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the Noongar community in the Great Southern.

  • Be a resident of Great Southern.  
     

2. The Young Person of the Year nominee should be a person aged 16 -25 yrs. 

3. Nominees for the Community Service Excellence, Sportsperson of the Year, Creative Talent, and Special Award must currently reside in Great Southern and have done so for a minimum of five years. 

Entry Guidelines

  1. Winners will be announced on Saturday 26 July 2025 at the Southern Aboriginal Corporation NAIDOC Ball event to be held at Albany Entertainment Centre.

  2. Nominations must be received by the close of business on Friday 16 May 2025. Late nominations will not be considered. 

  3. The decision of the judges will be final, and no correspondence will be entered. 

  4. Nominations will not be accepted for an award category that the nominated person has previously been awarded; however, they are still eligible for other award categories. 

  5. Staff members from Southern Aboriginal Corporation cannot be nominated.
